These are the best donuts in Detroit, hands down. They are Krispy Kreme style, which is really to say that Krispy Kremes taste like (a less yummy version of) Dutch Girl Donuts. In addition to their glazed donuts, which are unspeakably delicious, they also offer crullers and sourdough donuts, each of which is also darn good. If you've never been, I recommend getting a dozen glazed. Just make sure you have friends to share with or you might eat them all. They are that irresistible.

I've been wanting to go here for YEARS and we somehow found ourselves driving past it while heading to the DIA on day. So of course we had to stop. And we were not disappointed! If you know me, you know I LOVE doughnuts and am picky about them. The variety of options, the texture and flavor of the doughnuts were awesome. Would definitely go back for more. It's in a kind of rough area, as the bullet proof glass through which you order and receive your doughnuts, as well as a super sweet customer who was getting doughnuts the same time as us warned. Be aware of your surroundings, but it's a really awesome establishment that is definitely worth the trek into Detroit for.

Great donuts! Love the ones that are twisted -- so good! I believe the donuts are made fresh daily.

I am one of many of the boomer generation, that can happily say, that I have been enjoying these delicious donuts since I was a kid! I grew up in Ferndale and my entire family would be excited, when Dad would drive to Dutch Girl get us donuts on a Saturday morning. I tagged along with him sometimes and they are fond memories! How absolutely wonderful to have Dutch Girl still here and still serving the public with the best donuts around!! When my daughter & family comes home from Chicago for a visit.. her husband ALWAYS wants to make a trip here to get donuts. He did not grow up here, yet he's hooked! LOL. To the owners and staff at.. Dutch Girl... we wish you nothing but the best for the future. Bless you all for running the business and creating these awesome convections.. Stay strong till COVID is history!

This was the best donut I've had in my life. Who knew that sour cream would be the flavor to take the prize...if you find yourself anywhere in the vicinity of 7 Mile Road, make sure you stop here.

Oh my goodness. When I looked up the reviews about this place, EVERYONE was raving about it! I had to get there. I went early in the morning and there was barely any room to stand from it being SO PACKED!!! The standing room is already super small, so me and like 5 other people were in there like sardines and there were people waiting in a line that extended outside. It smells amazing. You see them preparing the donuts right in front of you, down to glazing them - all by hand, then putting them right into the case to be sold. I got a few different ones, but had about 3 of the original glazed ones. Better than Krispy Kreme. Easily. I don't know how a donut could have such a soft but thick cake like consistency, but they do. Mine literally melted in my hand as I held it. It's a place you must go to! Just be prepared for the wait and be sure to get milk to wash it all down. And have an idea of which ones you want before you order because the workers get impatient quickly....... and so do the people waiting behind you!

If you're looking for a really amazing, solid donut, stop here. It's not gonna win a pretty aesthetics or trendy "Instagram" pic donut awards, but if you're looking for melt in your mouth sweetness, these will be hard to beat. Look past the bullet proof glass and lackluster decor, and enjoy the adorable sugary sweet donuts that have been part of the City since 1947. You can thank me afterward.

I knew a Dutch girl once. Natasha, if you're reading, I heart you. Probably 4 star donuts, but when you're open in the small hours and so dirt cheap, you're going to get 5 from me. I prefer Dutch boys, and even moreso Dutch girls that were previously boys. And speaking of which, true story. I had quite the experience at this donut shop. A beautiful transsexual girl, who I can only assume was in the adult entertainment industry, due to being dressed in a Shiny Gold bikini and Shiny Gold hot pants and high heels (the likes of which only Barbie would be out in), getting donuts in here. I couldn't help myself but to tell her she was amazing and she told me I was amazing too, and asked me to go back to her car with her. Next thing you know I'm walking her back to her car and she's giving me her number. It didn't go anywhere because I wasn't really going to push for it, had to head back to NY and I already have a gf in the adult business as some of you may know... but it was a really positive experience to add to the fact that they have really tasty fresh donuts and are open really late and are cheap as well. It's in a bit of a sketchy area if you're alone and scared but hey, you know it's worth it for donuts. And if you don't like poor areas, then let's something about making this country share-the-wealth, the way it should, so nobody has to be dirt poor. We have more than enough to go around. Until then let's go for donuts at 2 in the morning from the Dutch Girl, and let's drown our sorrows on the mean streets of Detroit. After all, 10 years from now, all this might be gentrified, vanilla, and dead inside.

You know what, there are times where I feel jaded by donuts and that is mainly due to food trends that try to make something so comforting seem complicated and a waste of $8. Dutch Girl Donuts has reminded me that good classic donuts still do exist! They keep it real and don't charge you an arm and a leg for a donut. Hell, I purchased a dozen for $8. Yes, you read that right! It makes me side-eye myself for ever dropping more that $3 on a donut... Of course, I went to town buying a dozen donuts: A Bavaran cream donut with chocolate frosting, some donut holes, a traditional glazed donut, jelly filled...its safe to say I almost got 1 of everything. I'm a sucker for the Bavarian cream donuts. However, if I ever decide to cheat on my favorite donut, I will have to go with the red velvet donut the next time I visit Dutch Girls. That donut was not heavy or cakey at all! As a reminder, this is a cash-only joint so come prepared.
